Here is an alternate audio source from a fellow Portland taper:
http://www.archive.org/details/kking2008-03-22.u89.flac16

"(Kaki) suggested titling it something like, 'kaki king sings through 103 degree fever and flu.'"

Kaki King was recovering from the flu and had played an in-store performance earlier, yet was still gracious enough to allow taping and dedicated enough to play an excellent show.

Kaki King is an exceptional musician and artist who has more than earned her current success. Anyone who hears her music or sees her play her heart out for more than two hours at a live show, will walk away with an impression they won't forget.

Thanks to Kaki King for allowing taping despite her illness, soundboard operator Dan Brantigan for facilitating this, Bryna for confirmation later on, The Doug Fir Lounge for their hospitality and customer service.

Despite their singer, Rob Crow's illness at the show, and getting lost in "the middle of nowhere (Sandy, Oregon), Pinback performed their standard high quality performance for a venue that has welcomed them home in the northwest for many years.

PDX Taper

The point of this site is to hopefully compartmentalize some artists that we both like so you can keep coming back in the future.
Beyond that, I'd like to show how simple it can be for anyone to do the same exact thing with minimal time and cost expended.
Using online resources and local resources, there's no reason why anyone can't go to a local concert and tape one of their favorite bands. This site would not exist without those resources.

www.taperssection.com is ground zero for information on taping concerts. You can find local teams there you can meet up with at shows to create an even better product than alone.

NYCtaper.com was an inspiration for this site.

archive.org hosts video and audio files at the highest quality for fast, easy distribution.
You can find thousands of great shows at those previous links and find out if your favorite band allows open taping.

Finally, I recommend getting in touch with your local public access radio and television stations for use of their equipment to help create these projects.
http://www.communitymedia.se/cat/linksus.htm

Contact your ideal band via myspace.com and get permission to tape a show for internet distribution or airing on local television.

It's never been easier to find yourself recording your favorite artist performing live, at such a high level of quality and level of sharing capability.

I realized if I didn't set up a camera and some mics and simply press 'record', these documents wouldn't exist. They're doing all the hard work, but I get to be the satellite that creates the image and sends it to the world. I don't have to create my own masterpieces, I can capture and present theirs. It's an honor and I hope you enjoy it as well.
